EPS Group contributed to the successful completion of several major transportation projects, including the 1.75-mile light rail extension. The project involved a range of complex tasks, including roadway design, drainage design, utility coordination, mapping, and more than 200 legal descriptions and exhibits.
One of the key aspects of the project was the integration of multiple modes of transportation, including bus, street cars, and park-and-rides. EPS Group played a critical role in this effort by providing civil engineering and surveying services that ensured seamless connectivity between different modes of transportation.
Our value engineering workshop was instrumental in identifying cost-saving alternatives that ultimately helped to save the project significant sums of money. For instance, the firm recommended relocating the Gilbert Road Station, which saved the project $1.5 million, and proposed alternatives to Mesa Standards to resolve utility conflicts, which saved the project $400,000.
To achieve these cost savings, EPS Group engaged in comprehensive coordination efforts, working closely with several dry utility designers to ensure the timely and high-quality delivery of their services. Through meticulous oversight of quality control, EPS Group was able to save the project significant field conflicts, delays, and costs.
EPS Group also led the preparation of an early work package for the Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR), which included a separate City of Mesa lining project for “old” sewer mains and manholes. This approach allowed for early identification of potential issues, helping to mitigate risks and ensure timely project completion.
